Pure Rose Geranium Essential Oil from Egypt.
With over 700 species of Geranium catalogued, only a few are known for their production of essential oil, the most common is Pelargonium graveolens, which is cultivated around the world. Depending upon the geographical location there are slight variations in odour, colour and the levels of constituents within the oils, however they all generally fall within an accepted range.
It has been said, that if the oil is made from the leaves when they start turning yellow, as it has a stronger rose aroma then the younger, greener leaves. During the 18th Century, hundreds of successful hybrids and cultivators from Europe, such as Italy, Spain, France and Portugal returned to the African continent, to areas of the Egypt, Belgian Congo, Kenya, Zimbabwe, Madagascar, and the French colony of Reunion Island.
